Meet the Team

Joe Farino - Powertrain

Team Captain & System Integration

With a longtime passion for racing off-road vehicles and reverse engineering automotive equipment, I have been driven to create a successful SAE Chapter here at Stevens. I continue to learn from the project everyday, and look forward to using my design and management experience in a career of Research & Development.

Frank Thissen - Powertrain

Engine Cradle Design

As a child I was racing and building go-carts; it drew me to Mechanical Engineering. I joined the team to further my product design skills in an area I hope to continue as my career path.

Connor Oberle - Powertrain

Gearbox Calculation & Design

Having experience working on and fixing cars, I wanted to increase my education of the subject by obtaining an Automotive Engineering concentration within Mechanical Engineering. I joined the team because I have always been a part of the Stevens SAE club, and I wanted to help develop valuable skills and experiences for both myself and the club moving forward.

Haijun Ramoundos - Powertrain

Axles & Gear Modeling

As someone who has concentrations in Automotive Engineering, and Product Design & Manufacturing, and hoping to pursue a similar career path, I joined the team to gain valuable experience with designing, fabricating, and assembling automotive components.

Jackie Ferrara - Powertrain

Bearings & Seals

As a Mechanical Engineering Student with Concentrations in Automotive and Power Engineering, the SAE Baja project was an ideal choice for a Senior Design Project. Learning about powertrain systems and whole car integration from a hands on approach has already proven to give invaluable experience. I hope to continue to use the knowledge gained from this project to further my career goals.

John Raziano - Suspension Team Lead

My focus is on coordinating the subsystems of the car such that the finished vehicle is stable and robust with favorable handling characteristics. I spend most of my project hours working on integrating components with the full assembly and developing dynamic simulations to validate suspension and steering designs.

Will Graham - Supsension

Suspension Optimization & Team Secretary

My roles as a team member are to develop optimized suspension components and to take meeting minutes. I am interested in this project because I have been passionate about cars since I was a little kid and intend to pursue a career in automotive performance.

Michael Wright - Suspension

I am part of the suspension portion of the SAE Baja team, responsible for designing the rear uprights and assisting the team with whatever they may need. My interest in this project comes from my desire to enhance my automotive engineering knowledge. Skills developed throughout this project such as time management, teamwork, and system integration techniques will translate directly into the MEP industry where I am currently employed working as a mechanical engineer collaborating with electrical and plumbing teams and interacting with clients and architects.

Ivan Tobal - Suspension

Being a part of the SAE Baja Suspension Team, I was responsible for multiple components including tires/wheels&hubs/and mostly the steering system. I have always been interested in the automotive industry and felt as if this project would be a great passageway to start the learning process. In just a couple months I have learned an immense amount about off-road vehicles and valuable skills such as teamwork and communication. I have previously interned at various companies as a mechanical engineer and feel as if my problem solving capabilities will help my team achieve its ultimate goal!

Cody Yersin - Suspension

Upright Design & Sponsorship Chair

I have focused on the upright designed and optimization. I worked at a company that makes bearings this summer and the majority of their clients are in the automotive industry. Working for them this summer made me interested in this project. I have had experience with product design and manufacturing and hope to see this project help my knowledge and experience in these areas as I wish to purpose a career in these.
